| "Cinderella" is over!
I get my life back!
Sort of.
Schola performances next weekend and the weekend following, so now I actually have to use my voice well (and perhaps learn the music... er...)
The show was great. I can't get over the amazing people who helped out at the last minute, especially our INCREDIBLE pit.
And the kids... well they were just fantastic.
The end.
Funny story that probably isn't very funny: So we had a ton of issues with Maintenance at HGC/HCA, mostly because we took over the Pavilion and were a nuisance (by no fault of our own). So they would sort of be a little annoyed with us sometimes. Missy (choreographer, girlfriend of the director, and extraordinary woman!) was throwing something out yesterday, and one of the Maintenance guys yelled at her for putting it in the wrong can. When she pointed out that there was already trash in the recycling can, he continued to rant about the fact that her item was not recyclable. Fast forward to last night (or early this morning), as Drew (director), Missy, Ken (lighting & long-lost second cousin) and I were sitting in a diner. We were mentioning some funny moments, and Missy had already shared her story about the maintenance guy, and another story came up about one of the students attempting to throw me into a trash can. Without missing a beat, Missy goes, "Well, it wouldn't have been a problem, Maintenance would have come along and told him that it wasn't recyclable!" Ah, the things that make you laugh at 1 am after weeks of no sleep.
Yeah buddy. | | |
| two and a half weeks ago.
erg.
it's been a very busy time, and I don't have time to post much.
"Cinderella" has taken over my life! It's been great, but it's crunch time and prayer would be appreciated, as we're rather severely lacking funds (i.e. thousands) and the money's not coming in the way it needs to.
plus we still are missing key members of our pit.
help!
it will all happen, right?
how are you? | | |
| I was asked by a very smart person the other day... why do we make such a big deal about going into a new year?
Well, in any case, for whatever reason, we do, and I like sparkling apple cider and celebrations so it's all good, especially the part where I get to go home and sleep. Just kidding. Sort of.
So I would just like all of you faithful readers (or lack thereof) to know that a very unusual event has taken place. Today, I received in the mail my brand new pajamas. A late Christmas present. And for the first time since I was probably 7 or 8 years old, I am wearing pajamas that match.
And I am thrilled beyond belief.
So I guess that would make me pretty easy to please.
In other news, it occured to me today as I wrote a recommendation that some of my precious students will be graduating at the end of this school year. Yes of course that is going to happen I realize, but it's very strange when these are the students who gave me a chance last year, who showed me how to work the A/C in my room, who subtly pointed out things like a boy's name I had put on the girls' list in Chorale when I didn't know all the students' names, who supported me when I wasn't worthy of it, and who have been such a huge encouragement, challenge, and blessing in the past 2 years. I am unbelievably excited for them as they move on, but I will miss them terribly. How do teachers do this year after year??? Ah, life.
Anyway, have yourselves a wonderful first week of 2007. Peace. | | |
